David Lerner Associates Matches Contributions For Cancer Research Syosset, NY, July 17, 2007 -- David Lerner Associates, the Syosset-based investment firm, has matched all contributions for “Stride for the Cure,” a walk held at the Cold Spring Country Club, where hundreds of club and community members participated to benefit cancer research. In an unprecedented move by a private country club, Cold Spring closed its golf course on July 1st to make the walk possible and support this worthy cause.
About the Cold Spring Country Club: In 1946, members of the Willowbrook Country Club in Baldwin lost their lease and set out to find a new site. OHEKA, the mansion of Otto Kahn, stood on 20 acres. The mansion was a 127 room castle that was copied from the best European architecture. On additional acreage was his own 18-hole golf course, considered to be one of the great private estate courses built during the Roaring Twenties. It was this course and the garage and three cottages on the property that were to become the Cold Spring Country Club. The club is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
