The Importance of Life Insurance

Benjamin Franklin wrote in a 1789 letter that in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. The great unknown is exactly that, unknown, and none of us knows exactly when we’re going to leave this world.

What we do know is that it will be a stressful time for those we love and leave behind. According to the 2016 Insurance Barometer Study by Life Happens and LIMRA, 1 in 3 households would be in danger if the primary wage earner died.

The study shows that their families and dependents would be in immediate trouble. Keeping a roof over your loved ones heads and food on the table is one thing when you are alive, but that responsibility doesn’t end when you depart this world. Life insurance can alleviate this stress and ease the way for the people who rely on you.

The study also found that 40% haven’t bought life insurance due to the fact that they are unsure of how much insurance they need or what type to buy.

“Making sure that you are sufficiently covered by an insurance policy is important to both you and your family. Get professional advice, and make sure you know that they will not be put in jeopardy if something were to happen to you,” says David Lerner Associates Vice President of Insurance Services, Dan Gardella.
