David Lerner Associates 24th Annual Long Island Police Appreciation Run
David Lerner Associates, a privately-held securities broker dealer headquartered in Syosset, New York, announced today nearly 600 runners participated in the 24th Annual David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run held in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. All proceeds from the event went toward the Police Crisis Fund, which provides assistance to Long Island law enforcement officers and their families dealing with emergency situations.
“The David Lerner Associates Police Appreciation Run is an event we look forward to every year, and we are incredibly proud of the impact these funds make to enhance quality of life for Long Island law enforcement officers and their families,” said John Dempsey, president of David Lerner Associates. “We are headquartered on Long Island, and much of our staff lives here; we see firsthand the invaluable benefit law enforcement officers provide on a regular basis. Sponsoring an event that raises funds to support them when they need it most is our way of showing our gratitude for their service and dedication to the wellbeing of our communities.”
David Lerner Associates has been a strong supporter of the event for 24 years by working with the Greater Long Island Running Club to help raise funds and facilitate the growth of the event, which had 100 more participants than last year. David Lerner Associates has contributed approximately $300,000 to the David Lerner Associates Police Appreciation Run since its inception in 1991.
In addition to raising funds for the Police Crisis Fund, David Lerner Associates also presented NYPD Sergeant Shaun Mara with the inaugural Brian Moore Memorial Award, in honor of the heroic NYPD Detective Brian Moore who was killed in the line of duty earlier in 2015. The award was presented to Sergeant Mara by David Lerner Associates Assistant Branch Manager and former NCPD Detective Alex Barnych and NYPD Running Club President Tom Biggers. The award recognizes the first-place finisher in the Law Enforcement category
