David Lerner Associates Named 6th Best Company to Work for in New York State
David Lerner Associates, Inc (DLA) with corporate headquarters in Syosset, NY was recently named the sixth Best Company to Work for in New York in 2011 in the large company category. The awards are determined as a result of conducted research based on employee surveys and workplace practices information, then compiled, evaluated and ranked by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management (NYS-SHRM) and Best Companies Group in partnership with the Business Council.
Senior staff at DLA recently traveled to Albany to receive this prestigious award. “We are honored to be recognized as one of the best large sized companies to work for in NYS, with over 250 employees. We feel this is a great achievement for our company, stated Martin Walcoe, Executive Vice President of Sales.
DLA had to complete an extensive two-step assessment process to qualify for the competition. The first was an evaluation of the company’s policies, practices, and demographics. The questions posed pertained to DLA’s mission, human resources, and community service activities.
The second part of the competition looked at employee’s level of engagement and satisfaction within DLA. Over 250 employees completed the survey. The employee participation rate was very high, with 81% of employees responding.
The NYS-SHRM and The Business Council focused on when deciding upon winners: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall engagement.
NYS-SHRM council, in conjunction with Journal Publications Inc., hosted an awards dinner to recognize and congratulate the winning companies. DLA will also appear in a publication, the 50 Best Companies to Work for in New York, featuring all companies who are indeed innovators, and served as role models for their fellow New York companies.
