David Lerner Associates Donates to NCPD Officer through the L.I Police Crisis Fund
David Lerner Associates, Inc., a privately held financial management and investment firm headquartered in Syosset, New York, recently gave $2,500 to support Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) First Precinct Officer Rob Dones, who lost his wife to colon cancer this past summer. The $2,500 was part of the Long Island Police Crisis Fund, which assists local law enforcement and their families in times of financial hardship and has been a focal point of David Lerner Associates’ philanthropic efforts for more than 35 years. The announcement was made during a ceremonial check presentation at the David Lerner Associates headquarters along with NCPD officers and representatives from the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation.
“Officer Dones has shown remarkable strength, caring for his children through an unimaginable loss while continuing to serve and protect our community,” said Martin Walcoe, President & CEO of David Lerner Associates. “Long Island is home to our company and many of our employees, and we are proud to stand with the officers who look after it. Supporting police families during life’s most difficult moments is exactly what the Long Island Police Crisis Fund was created to do.”
The check was presented by Martin Walcoe, President & CEO of David Lerner Associates, alongside Nassau Police Running Club President Mark Spottiswood and representatives of the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation. Many of Officer Dones’s fellow Nassau County police officers and members of the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) also attended to show their support.
Over the past 35 years, the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation has provided more than $600,000 in financial support to Long Island police families facing financial crisis. The fund, made possible by David Lerner Associates, is largely driven by the annual David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run held each June at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. The 5K run draws hundreds of participants and spectators in support of Long Island police officers and their families.
“With our help, and the help of friends, fellow officers and the NCPD PBA, Rob is putting his life back together. None of this would be possible without David Lerner Associates and the Long Island Police Appreciation Run it sponsors every June,” said Mike Polansky, President Emeritus of the Greater Long Island Running Club. “David Lerner Associates is an incredible partner in keeping this necessary initiative going. We are grateful to David Lerner Associates for its support and we were thrilled to join them in presenting this check to Officer Dones.”
